This pup surpassed all expectations; in temperament, intelligence, and looks. She came to our house well socialized and in great health. Chad and Deb keep a very clean kennel. They are knowledgeable about the breed, and the litters their dogs have. They kept me well informed prior to choosing my dog, and welcomed updates once I got her home. Demonstrating again the concern they have for their pups. Tate, now 8 months is a great house dog, and on her way to becoming a wonderful hunting companion. I have nothing but the highest regards for the Beirl's. Thanks again! ---Ann G. Wisconsin
Chad and Deb, Shay’s doing great – amazing energy. I can’t wait until this fall. She’s pointing every robin in our yard and swimming in circles in our pond following the mallards around. She lives to hunt - no question. I had her out at a local pointing dog club a couple of weeks ago to see how they were approaching training. I had Shay on a lead next to several other dogs watching as a quail had been planted in the field in front of us. It flushed back toward us over our heads and landed in the middle of all of our trucks. Shay came unglued. None of the other dogs even noticed the bird come in except Shay and she went apoplectic. She crawled under a truck and went on point beneath the muffler. She is one exceptional dog! Best regards, Dave Montana
Deb, Mickey has been at the trainers a week. I just called for the first time to see how he was doing. He said Mickey has a ton of natural ability. He's working mainly with whoa on him right now, and whistle commands. He said he learns real easy and that I'm going to have one hell of a dog when he gets done. I couldn't be happier. Thanks for the great dog. Wish I had room for two more. Regards, Dave M. Michigan
When our family decided to purchase a dog, we knew we wanted an English Setter - two generations of our family before us have had setters and have always been happy with them. Figuring out what breed we wanted was easy - knowing where to go to find one was our challenge. We began by searching on the internet and came across the Beirl website. We were instantly impressed with the format of the website, how easy it was to maneuver through it, and before we knew it, we had spent hours looking at all the setters on their website. We loved the look of all their dogs and felt we had found a breeder with genuine interest in the quality of their breeding and not the quantity! We sent an inquiry e-mail to Chad and Deb and were surprised when only 1 day later they called to tell us of an upcoming litter. Chad and Deb were exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable about the breed, and we could tell how passionate they were about their dogs! We knew we had found the right breeder! Months later, Ozzie joined our family and he has been a dream come true! Everything we had hoped for in a setter (and more!) we have found in Ozzie. He has a wonderful disposition, is extremely loyal, is very playful, has been easy to train, and is so darn easy to love! He is a great family dog! Admittedly, he is also a little spoiled! Ozzie is a very handsome dog and we constantly get compliments on his striking appearance. He is one smart puppy and we are constantly surprised at how well he has responded to any training and discipline. Ozzie also is quick to understand many words - his favorite being "treat", "walk", and "birdie". Every morning he fetches the paper from our front steps and brings it to Tom - the Sunday paper is a bit of a challenge! Although we are not hard-core hunters, the few times we have had Ozzie out in the field, he has done great. He responded well to a gunshot the first time out and was not hesitant at all - he was very eager to please us! He also stayed at close range and checked back regularly without our having to prompt him to. We are anxious to work with him more in the field as he gets older. He has incredible natural instincts and all the makings of a great bird dog. We are so thrilled with his abilities thus far! Chad and Deb have done an exceptional job with the bloodlines of their dogs - great genes! Working with the Beirls was a fantastic experience. They care so much for each and every one of their dogs, and that love is also passed onto every pup they have. Their pups are born into such a warm and nurturing environment. This was very evident by how well socialized Ozzie was when we picked him up and how easily he adjusted to his new home with us! If we had the room, we wouldn't hesitate to add another Beirl setter to our family! Chad and Deb are great people and truly love what they are doing as breeders. They are emotionally invested into every one of their pups and love to hear from their pup's new owners. This is evident by the Beirl's phenomenal website and all the time they put into keeping up each pup's website page! We feel so fortunate to have "stumbled" upon the Beirls. They have provided us with an exceptional English Setter. We couldn't imagine life without Ozzie! Tom and Jeanne Mercer
Juneau is by far the best setter, I have ever had. He will lock up on doves by our feeder for an hour if I don't call him off. He then ambushes them and has caught 2 and brought them to my feet. He's also caught a hen pheasant in the neighboring corn field. He will retrieve anything. With his natural hunting abilities he is showing, he is going to be one heck of a hunting dog. Sher Ohio
Truman is everything we always wanted our English Setter to be and then some...He is playful, loyal, affectionate and, yes, a little spoiled! The Beirls have been so responsive to all our questions and concerns. Thanks, Deb! Bert T. Georgia
Deb, My family and I are very happy with our pup we received from the Beirl's . He has a great personality, extremely easy to train, and is a joy to have around our home. I have been training our pup and he is birdie, holding a good point and I am looking forward to our first hunting season together this fall. When I decided to purchase a Setter, I was hoping the pup would be a great hunter and a pleasant family companion. I think I made a very good decision purchasing a Beirl's Setter. Thanks Deb. " Jacques joined our family from the Beirl's in August, 2004 and it has been a delight! We got him @ 12 weeks because a prior potential owner changed their minds-how lucky for us! From the moment he joined us, Jacques immediately got along with our other dogs-he is the clown of the group-very playful and funny. He was clearly well socialized and good in his crate before he even came to us. His health has been great and although we didn't buy him to hunt, he still loves to watch and chase birds. We can't imagine our home without Jacques." Jacques is handsome but truly, his best feature is his gentle nature. He is so very sweet + loves to cuddle. He still does that little "smile" thing where he pulls his lips back when he's happy. I'm so lucky to have him! Joanne S. Connecticut
When I first saw the Beirl's website I instantly fell in love with their dogs. The classic style and conformation of foot hunting setters and their well balanced temperment impressed me and I had to see the dogs. After a few phone calls I arranged to go up for a visit. I drove three hours in a blizzard just to see them. I was greeted by all three beautiful dogs and knew I must have one for myself. Chad and Deb were very kind, extremely informed, and sincerely devoted to their dogs and their breeding program. I was also very pleased with the intimacy of their operation, the dogs are truly a part of the family unlike large kennels. In short Chad and Deb are doing an excellent job with their kennel and I'm proud to say I own a Beirl's Setter. Parker isn't even six months old and is showing tremendous intelligence, biddability and potential. Thank you Chad and Deb for all you've done. Gabe G. Wisconsin
The Beirls breed fantastic dogs. We are so pleased with Boo. The grandchildren love him and he is so sweet and loving in return. I might add that he is quite bright. Emma, who is 7 years old, has been very disappointed with her cousin’s black lab, Spring. Spring has not proved to be playful, even as a pup. With Boo..... Emma is able to invent games and he learns how to play them very quickly. We have not done any training for hunting yet, but Tim was impressed when Boo discovered a frozen squirrel in the park and brought it back to Tim. Our previous setter would have tried to eat it rather than retrieve it! I will always treasure the pictures I printed off the Beirl’s website when Boo was just whelped and didn’t even have his eyes open. It’s not often you have the opportunity to see your pup that young. Deb has put so much valuable information about Bleu and Indy and Abby and their heritage on the site, too. Now it’s fun to see pictures of Boo’s litter mates as they grow. It's hard to believe Boo is a year old. Tim says he's the best dog he has ever had. Boo is an excellent hunter. It's all breeding and instinct because he's had no training. Thanks for a wonderful dog! Claudia Wisconsin
Deb & Chad, Levi is growing like crazy. He loves to play outside in the snow. He's already started to retrieve and he stalks our other dog and our three cats. He is so full of energy and a natural at hunting. We can't imagine not having Levi around. We can't wait until fall to go hunting for pheasants. We would definitely recommend Beirl's Setters to our friends and family. Kamin Family Wisconsin
Deb Just checking in to let you know your pup is doing well and we are thoroughly enjoying her. "Sadie" seems to be adapting well to her new home. She has a very sweet disposition and enjoys all members of the family. She seems to be a very smart pup and is doing well with house training and has earned more freedom to roam the house. She is eager to please and has learned basic obedience quite well. She has been very good about refraining from chewing on shoes, furniture, etc. preferring her toys, so we are very happy about that. Again, I think she is just a smart pup and knows what we expect and is eager to oblige. She does very well in her kennel, sleeps all night without a peep. We go to puppy class on Thursday nights and she is remaining fairly well socialized. She rides well in the truck and loves getting out in the woods, playing in the snow. She hunts our two cats around the house and puts them on point. They are annoyed with this activity but tolerate it quite well. Wherever we go, people compliment us on the beautiful pup. She looks like her daddy. So all in all we are extremely happy with her and quite sure she will be a great family dog and Terry is looking forward to training this spring using the NAVDHA hunting methods. Just got back from our first hunt with Treva in southeast No. Dakota. All I can say is, wow, what a classy dog!!! From the time we first let her out of the kennel you could see the "lights going on" and the genes kicking in. She points, she ranges beautifully, chases downed birds and by the third day was retrieving birds. She just loves to hunt and is eager to please. Checks back with us all the time and is easy to call back. Sometimes gets a little distracted by "tweety birds", but really easy to get back on track. We had high expectations for her, but not that high. She hunted better on her first hunt than many dogs when they are fully mature (and I'm speaking from experience). Just wanted you to know what a great job you are doing breeding and how much fun we had with her. Gordy Minnesota
After seventeen years with an Beautiful Tri-color English Setter for my best friend and Hunting partner I had to put Her to sleep. Eight months later I set out on a quest to honer Her and find another one. If you have never owned one or hunted with one you don't know what you are missing. It's a natural bird hunter with a soft mouth that never ranges to far. Always looking back to keep you in range with a keen nose and a lovable temperament and an excellent family dog who gets so attached to you and you to it. I soon realized that it would be hard to find especially doing it long distance over the internet as most of the foot hunting breed type English Setters are located back east. It was Deb's website that first caught my eye. Looking at the main page I realized I was looking right in the eye of the foot hunting type English Setters that I knew and loved. But something else it was the detail and care that she put into the website that brought me to the conclusion that she felt and knew Her dogs were special and part of Her extended family. I wrote Her a email asking about pups and availability only to find that due to the demand, they were all gone. I wrote back and told Her of my story and that it was because of Her website I just knew that She cared about all Her dogs and that I wanted one of them even if I have to wait. Within three hours after I sent the email, Deb called me on the phone and to my surprise and with a lot of luck happened to find pups available through another one of her contacts who she trusted and was family to Her dogs. I now have Debs dog Kaseys' sister who we named Cassie who at 18 weeks old is just a English Setter Owners dream come true. She is a Blue Belton with a dominant black patch over Her left eye. She is smart, eager to please, beautiful and birdie. Although I have never met Deb or Chad I feel they are friends even after our business transaction I have had phone calls and emails and all the support I would expect from a breeder that might live in my own neighborhood not living 1700 miles away. My dog shows all the signs of a well bred natural hunter and I simply can't wait to get her into birds soon. I have nothing but respect for Deb and Chad and I have found they are for real. I read the testimonials on their website but I never thought that I would be writing one. Thank you Deb and Chad Jon Stephens Van Nuys, CA.
Our experience with the Beirl family has been exemplary! As we eagerly waited to get our new pup "Cash"....I found the weekly/daily photos and updates to be very beneficial and special for our family. “Cash is definitely the perfect pet. Not only does she love to play with our two girls,,, she has already shown to be a natural when it comes retrieving,,, Can’t wait to get her out in the field for some pheasant hunting. We get compliments everywhere we go with our Setter.....she is a real eye catcher!! Again, Thank you for the wonderful experience and great dog!!! The Stedman Family Dallas, Texas
I would highly recommend Beirl Setters to anyone looking for a great hunting and companion dog line. Deb and Chad do an outstanding job of meeting their clients needs and providing them with setters that are excellent companion and hunting partners. I purchased a puppy (Duchess) that was born on May 23, 2007 and have been absolutely satisfied with her temperament and desire to please. At 6 months I worked her with a “wing-on-a-string” and quickly saw her pointing capability. We went on daily walks in the field behind my house and she routinely pointed the native pheasents. I eventually used a blank pistol to introduce her to shot at just 7 months of age (as we flushed the birds) and found that she is not at all gun shy. In December, I pheasent hunted over her with a 20 gauge shotgun and she continued to work like a pro. I tried not to rush things with her but given her temperament and desire to hunt, I let her tell me how far I should go. She is a great house pet as well. She has a strong desire to please and a very even temperament. She loves to be around people and like her parents, loves to recline at your feet. Deb and Chad take great care of the dogs and puppies they raise and do a great job of communicating with their clients and meeting their needs. I am absolutely satisfied with my dog and would highly recommend Beirl Setters for anyone that is looking for a great companion dog or hunting partner. Kirk D. Johnston
I will tell you kate is the most wonderful, smart, beautiful dog! She has such a great personality. She is fully potty trained, she just sits by the door when she needs to go out. She retrieves everything, it's funny, she likes to hop up on the ottoman and when I throw her toy she launches herself high in the air like she's jumping into water. She does it every time! She loves her kennel, and her new dog bed but, if she had her way she would be on the sofa. She is a truly great dog and I thank you for the great job you do! Carlyn
Our experience with Deb has been wonderful. Cable is nearly 15 months old and is a calm, loving and gentle dog. He adores our two children, plays with his best friend, our 8 year old Black Lab, Denali. Cable has strong hunting instincts, points at all birds and our 3 cats. He has a gentle nature and is well-known and liked on the hiking and mountain trails. Our interest in English Setters is their docile indoor behavior and great ability to run distances. Cable not only is great indoors and outdoors, he is also an excellent swimmer. We were surprised that he seems to like water better then our Lab. We would definitely recommend Beirl's English Setters. There dogs are well socialized, calm but lively and great hiking and biking partners. We also appreciate and respect that Deb truly cares about her dogs and has been a great help to us.
